The Pros and Cons of LED masks for home use.
How do LED light face masks work? LED masks for face are used to improve the aesthetic appearance of skin by regulating the inflammation that occurs as a result of exposure to UV rays. The LED mask is applied on the face and it releases light of red wavelength, and other colours, on the face. The red light of LED masks spreads on the face and absorbs the melanin. According to recent studies, LED face masks have the ability to reduce the appearance of fine wrinkles and reduce the intensity of wrinkles. It is because the LED light is absorbed by the collagen in the skin, resulting in it contracting, causing the skin to appear smoother. The intensity of wrinkles can be reduced by about 80% as compared to any other anti-ageing treatment and can be combined with Botox to reduce the overall wrinkles.
How is an LED mask used?
The LED mask can be applied on the face as either a single application or in two stages. In the first stage, the LED mask is applied to the face and one gets the effect of applying the light-emitting diode on the face. The LED face mask is then removed and another LED face mask is applied on the same area. The second stage applies the light emitting diode for about 30 minutes. Aftercare is not required.
Why are LED face masks effective?
LED face masks have the ability to reduce UV exposure that the skin undergoes. The exposure to UV rays triggers the production of melanin, which gives the skin a dark appearance. The skin also gets damaged due to UV exposure and can experience the appearance of wrinkles, a grey tone, and discoloration. LED face masks also reduce the circulation of blood which is required to produce melanin. This leads to it reducing the appearance of fine wrinkles. The LED face mask also helps in reducing the symptoms of acne and rosacea. It also helps in reducing the size of pores and impurities in the skin. The LED face mask is effective in reducing the amount of fine lines and pores. Hence, it can help the skin to appear more youthful and beautiful.
Why is an LED mask not effective sometimes?
If light is applied to a much larger area than just the face, it won’t work well. The LED face mask may also burn the face as it contains a light-emitting diode which is powered by electricity. It is also essential to apply a moisturizer before applying the LED mask. This can help improve the absorption of the light and help the mask absorb more of the melanin. The mask may also give a reddish tinge to the face. This can be prevented by applying moisturizer prior to applying the LED face mask.
When should you avoid using anLED face mask?
A person should consult his dermatologist before using LED face mask as it can cause a rash in some circumstances. A person should also not use LED face mask if he/she has rosacea. According to some studies, the application of an LED mask can be harmful if applied on an area that is partially bruised or fractured.
LED face masks have the ability to improve the skin’s appearance. They have the ability to slow down the ageing process, but as they are still a fairly new technology they are not suitable for people who have sensitive skin.

We ask expert Rubella Mizuki about combating fine lines and wrinkles.
Rubella Mizuki: Hyaluronic Acid is a good starting point and does indeed help with fine lines. What I like to add in are peptides, to help the skin become firm and to improve the skin’s resilience. It is all about finding products that are balanced. The wrong combination can cause skin to look fatigued, but these three products will definitely help with fine lines and wrinkles.
What is your advice to women trying to retain their youthful looks?
The most important thing is to find products that are targeted towards your skin’s needs. Anything over 50 can be quite aging on the skin so it is important to use products with the right formula for the age of your skin.
Is it always necessary to use the ‘Step 1’ system for anti aging?
Yes, it is. If you notice any lines or wrinkles, you need to correct them immediately. I’m quite particular with consistency, so that they look plump and smooth. I advise to use the same products in the correct order to get the best results. When you do use the new products I suggest taking the step 2 solution along with it to achieve the best results.
Have there been any changes in the anti aging market that you are very excited about?
Yes. Retinoids are always on the top of my wishlist. They are something that have been used for years, but in recent years there has been a whole new awareness about retinoids and other anti aging products. This is a product I hope to add to the Anti-Wrinkle system very soon.
What’s your favourite “before” and “after” photo?
It’s important to embrace yourself and be happy with who you are. When I was younger I used to try to hide the lines and look younger, but today I want to accept who I am and what my face looks like. The key is to always look at the face and ask yourself how you want to look and feel. That way it’s a choice you make, not something that happens to you!
